At first glance it may seem that not much is going on in Vail this month, but dig a little deeper and you will find that is not the case. May is full of fun events here in Vail. Last week the 2014 Vail Beaver Creek Mountain Bike Race Series kicked off. And, between the school year wrapping up and Vail golf courses opening, May is the month to have fun and play charity golf tournaments to benefit local children.
This weekend (May 3) sees the return of the 2nd Annual Vail Derby Party! Sponsored by Bulleit Bourbon, and hosted by The Sebastian Vail, this is guaranteed to be a good time and proceeds benefit Children’s Garden of Learning.
I am aware of five charity golf tournaments in May but would not be surprised if there are many more that I don’t know about.
May 17 the Eagle Vail Golf Club hosts its first Community Golf Tournament! Sponsored by the POA, the 10-hole tournament will have a shotgun start at 4pm followed by dinner, drinks and prizes, and is the best value around.
May 22 Eagle County Charter Academy will hold its 14th annual golf tournament at Sonnenalp Golf Club. This fun tournament has been voted as the best golf tournament in the Vail Valley.
May 23 Stone Creek Charter holds their golf tournament at the spectacular Red Sky Ranch Golf Club.
May 26 the Beaver Creek Resort Company holds a golf tournament concluding Blues Brews & BBQs, which will benefit MS Can Do.
May 30 is the Eagle Chamber Screaming Eagle Golf Tournament. Proceeds will go towards scholarships.
Of course, the end of May sees the return of the iconic events for which Vail is known. Feast Vail and Blues Brews & BBQs both bring the valley back to life Memorial Day weekend with their jam-packed schedules of culinary events and entertainment. And then, June starts off with a bang with the GoPro Mountain Games, of which the Antlers at Vail hotel is proud to once again be a sponsor hotel.
