Vail winter is best known for its epic ski mountain. Vail Mountain boasts 5289 skiable acres, 195 runs and 31 lifts. 1200 of the 5289 acres are groomed each evening providing an amazing variety of terrain for skiers of all abilities. The resort is home to seven legendary back bowls spanning seven miles across the backside of the resort. Vail Mountain not only provides epic alpine ski terrain but also terrain parks that snowboarders love.
Cross country skis and snowshoes are another way to see the backcountry in and around Vail. Glide past pristine peaks and catch views of awe-inspiring wildlife. The Vail Nordic Center has some groomed tracks available for those looking for a fun heart rate raising outdoor activity. If you want to get a little further out and go a little faster you might want to arrange a guided snowmobile tour.
