About a week before Thanksgiving a couple of us in the sales/marketing office were bemoaning the lack of snow. “We know the Vail snow will come. But what if Vail Mountain doesn’t open on time? What will that perception be?” Our Controller walked in on that conversation and proceeded to tell about one of her first winters in Vail when she and a few friends were sitting outside enjoying a picnic on a balmy November day having the very same conversation. And, how the very next week the snow came and didn’t stop for 30 days. It was 30 days until they saw sun again and an epic year for skiers. Déjà vu?

The second week of December we received our first really big snowfall with 25″ in one week and it just continued from there. January received 70″ of snow when the January average is 35″. This 2016/2017 ski season will likely be on for the record books. Today is a beautiful blue sky day with lots of soft snow to enjoy. Hope that you have or will be making it out to Vail to enjoy it — we sure are!
