Antlers guest Steve Bensinger at Antlers Wine & Cheese reception

Here at Antlers at Vail, we love our guests. And, we especially love seeing them year after year. Our welcoming lobby is a popular place for guests to gather, particularly during our ski season weekly wine and cheese receptions. It is always fun to catch up with our extended family there.

Last month, we launched a featured guest series here on our blog to celebrate these guests, who have become a part of our family. We’ll be sharing a little bit of information that these guests from around the country and world have kindly provided. If you are a guest who is interested in being featured, please drop us a note to sales (at) antlersvail.com.

When and how did you first come to stay at Antlers at Vail?

Carol and I first came to the Antlers in 1995, about 30 years ago.  The beautiful sculpture in the driveway and the proximity to the base of Lionshead were the first things that caught our eye before we booked.

Who do you travel with when you visit Antlers at Vail? How long do you stay? Where do you travel from?

We’ve been staying at the Antlers when in Vail  ever since 1995.  Over the years, all of our family members (3 children, their spouses and now 5 grandkids) have all stayed there.  We come from NYC, NJ and Castle Rock, CO.  Our stays rage from a minimum of week and up to 2 weeks on occasion.  We have also had multiple stays in some winters that our schedule allows.

How many times have you stayed at the Antlers and what keeps you returning?

As noted above.  What keeps us returning is the wonderful family like hospitality, the constant improvements to the property and the condominium units (we love the newly updated units).  Also, the fact that we can choose between various sized units is a great feature depending on how many of us are involved in different trips.

Any special memories or favorite moments you’d be willing to share?

Watching all of our kids, and now grandkids, learn to ski while staying at The Antlers is a highlight.  And, the many family meals, hot tub and pool experiences, and just great family time together over the years are all special moments for us.  Plus, our Shih Tzu, Muffin, unfortunately no longer with us, was a mascot at The Antlers for many years.  You have photos of her hanging out at reception (the old version of it) in your catalogue!

Any staff member you would like to highlight?

There are many, but Magda stands out among them all.  Her amazing rise from dishwasher to GM is a wonderful American story.  She is a treasure, and the entire staff embodies her passion and enthusiasm!  That’s why we keep coming back!
