Vail visitors from Vienna Austria

Stefan and Alice Kafka visited us from Vienna Austria this past week and made a few runs in Vail’s China Bowl.  Another 4 inches of snow came down on Thursday with more predicted throughout this week in Vail Colorado.  If you are looking for a good weather site for the Colorado mountains and the Vail area try the very popular web-site  Opensnow.com  written by Joel Gratz.  It is made by skiers for skiers.

Vail snow report and ski conditions from Antlers at Vail

Here is the Vail snow and ski condition report from the Antlers at Vail condos for March 9th, 2010.  4 inches of new snow.  7 inches in the last 2 days.  Nice cool temps.  Skiing is fantastic.  Good powder in the Back Bowls, yet no one is around.  Very quiet on the hill.  On the back side there is a bit of crust underneath the powder but it is still quite nice.  If you can, try to get over to the north facing Blue Sky Basin.  They’ll have the best snow the next couple of days.

Vail grooming, Vail ski conditions March 1, reported by Antlers at Vail hotel

Here are the Vail ski conditions and Vail snow report for March 1st as reported by the Antles at Vail hotel:  Light snow, staying cold, 1-2 inches of new snow.  A few icy patches here and there but the snow is still soft, even in Vail’s Back Bowls.  Sunny skies and warm weather is predicted for this coming Tuesday and Wednesday before we get more snow again.  It is now March so get ready to bust out the sunscreen every other day between the snow.  Picture below is from the top of Chair 2 looking towards Gore Range and Chair #4.  Around 10 Vail groomers came by real quick.  Chris R.

Everyone out of the way !

Vail snow report and vail ski conditions Feb 16

Another 5 inches of snow today.  It is soooooo soft out there.  Still snowing lightly although they are calling for clearing skies by this afternoon.  Another storm predicted Wednesday night.  Now, you have all probably heard that parts of Colorado are a bit below average for snow this season.  And yes, this includes Vail at the moment.  If you are driving up from Denver, it can be very scary.  We made the trip from Denver early this morning (but still got on the lifts by 11:45).  There isn’t much snow along the road until you get to the top of Vail Pass.  Even near Copper mountain there wasn’t much there.  Thankfully the Vail Valley has been blessed as we seem to be getting the majority of the snow out of these recent systems.   So far this season Vail has had 172 inches.  Keystone 92 inches. Go figure.

Vail ski and snow conditions February 14

9 inches of new snow today and 14 inches in the last two days.  It is still snowing outside as of Sunday mid-day.  Things are soft up there (at least that is what the guests are saying).  Some of us hope to get up late this afternoon to make some runs, take some pictures and get you an updated report.

Vail skiing is great, another 2 inches of snow

Vail skiing is great at the moment with another 2 inches of snow today in Vail Colorado, January 6th.  Everything is open and the slopes are pretty empty.  Many people ask “is the town pretty quiet right now?”  It is but, the Antlers at Vail condos are pretty darn full even through the week.  Go figure.  The clouds rolled in to the Vail Valley pretty early in the day so the light isn’t the best out now.  A few snow showers for 3o minutes at a time, hoping for more.

Vail snow report and ski conditions January 3

Wow, now we are talking.  Vail reported 8 inches of new snow and off and on snow throughout the day.  The Back Bowls were in incredible condition.  Super soft snow and most of the mountain now open.  I had my first taste of Blue Sky Basin this season just this afternoon….. “excellent”.
